Practical help to identify, avoid and handle complications

It's vital that dental clinicians are aware of the status of the maxillary sinus when planning certain dental procedures, especially those involving the upper molars and premolars. Furthering knowledge in this area will help to avoid complications and ensure patient safety, particularly in treatments such as dental implant placement.

We are delighted to have Michael Saunders join our own Consultant Oral Surgeon Eithne Fyfe for an informative evening from the perspective of the ear, nose and throat surgeon to the maxillary sinus. During this session we will recognise some of the normal anatomical features of the maxillary sinus. We will review a number of X-rays and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans and understand the anomalies that can be picked up, how to approach concerns and when to refer patients.
